Loony Leader

Luna closed the door and once again used the Colloportus charm.  Gently, she said, “Ginny, I think it’s time for us to leave.  Can you walk if you lean on me?”

Ginny pressed her lips together and replied, “I can make it on my own.”

Luna countered, “Of course you can.  But we can move more quickly if you let me help, and I don’t think we should be here when they“, she nodded her head toward the Orrery Room, “get through that door.”

Ginny hesitated for a second, winced with pain as she tried her ankle, and then nodded in assent.

“Good.” said Luna, with as much confidence as she could put into her voice.  While helping Ginny to stand, she continued, “If you hook your arms around my neck, here from my left side, then maybe you can keep your wand ready in your hand, and so can I.”

With Luna’s arm wrapped tightly about her waist for support, Ginny did as instructed.  Clearly straining, she managed to force out a question: “What’s wrong with Ron?” Obviously she was more concerned about him than about her ankle.

“Maybe we can work that out later,” responded Luna. “Ron, do you think you can follow us?”

Ron, taken aback, peered at her in apparent confusion and, chuckling, said “Follow Loony?  Ha, ha, ha! Who would do that?”

“Ron!  We really need you to follow us!” Ginny pleaded.

Ron, clearly wobbly, turned to look at her, pointed, laughed and said, “You’re my sister.  You don’t tell me what to do.”

Ginny pressed her lips together, took a deep breath and, in the best imitation of her mother that anyone had ever seen, commanded, “RONALD BILIUS WEASLEY!  GET BEHIND ME RIGHT NOW, AND DON’T YOU DARE LEAVE MY SIGHT!”

Ron seemed to perk up for a moment, straightened slightly, said, “Wha?  Awwww…” with evident reluctance, saluted, and shuffled into position behind them.

As quickly as they could manage, with Ginny once or twice prodding a giddy, mumbling Ron with her Mrs. Weasley voice, they made their way to the door ahead.  They collapsed against it, it sprang open, and they half-fell into the room beyond.

“Ron!” croaked Harry, dashing toward them.  “Ginny — are you all — ?” 12
